Structural Integrity of Thermoelectric Plants

Introduction

 The research line "Structural Integrity of Thermoelectric Plants" is dedicated to the online monitoring of thermomechanical quantities and the calculation of the remaining life of the plant equipment based on these quantities in real time.

 
 
 
In addition, it is dedicated to the development of new materials - focusing on applications at high temperatures - and the development of more precise methodologies for: calculating the remaining life of units working at high temperatures based on the precipitation sequence of carbides; assessment of structural integrity in thermoelectric plants; calculation of the remaining life of components in boilers.
 
 
 
The "Corrosão" laboratories are involved in the implementation of the research line; "Mechanical Properties" and "Metalografia", all located in the Fundão Unit.
 
 
 
Cepel partners in the development of the research line are the following organizations: Eletrobras; the companies Eletrobras CGTEE, Furnas, Eletronorte and Chesf; Tractebel Energia; the Luiz Alberto Coimbra Institute for Graduate Studies in Engineering at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Coppe / UFRJ).
 
 
 
As a result of the work developed in this line of research, the Thermoelectric Plant Integrity Assessment Guide was edited.
