Information Processing and Computational Intelligence Applied to the Operation of Electrical Systems

Introduction

The real-time supervision and control system is an important data source on the current and past states of the electrical system. Such pieces of information may be useful for a number of processes across different company sectors. The line of research "Information Processing and Computational Intelligence Applied to Power Systems Operation" is aimed at developing software technologies for the exploration of the available data and the synthesis of relevant information to different areas of the electric companies. The main focus is the processing of data gathered by SAGE (Open Energy Management System) possibly correlating them with data from other different sources.

The technologies included in this line include computational intelligence techniques (neural networks, nebulous logic, expert systems and evolutionary computation), databases, graphical interface, data science (big data, machine learning and data mining), integration of software systems and handling the content of different data sources to create a new complete information service (mashup).

This topic relates to the line of research Supervision and Control of Electrical Systems in Real-Time. For its development uses resources of the Advanced Laboratory of Supervision and Control - LASC. The main software product developed under this theme is called ASTRO - Simulated Environment for the Training of Substation Operators.
