Cepel conducts research, technological development, innovation, certification and training activities for the Brazilian electrical energy sector. Such activities are structured into large research departments.
Cepel’s research areas cover different aspects of generation, transmission, distribution and energy efficiency, focusing on the specificities of the Brazilian Interconnected System. Considering the Areas of Expertise of the Center, the research areas can be grouped into the following categories:
Cepel develops a series of models and computer programs. In addition, the Center conducts several laboratory tests, some of them certified by Inmetro, and provides technological services to many companies in the electrical energy sector. Cepel also certifies a range of electrical and electronic products.
