Photovoltaic Systems Laboratory

Introduction

Cepel’s Photovoltaic Systems Laboratory (Lab SF) has been operating for over 15 years, conducting researches from tests for performance assessment of photovoltaic systems and components to tests in end-use pieces of equipment such as pumps and cooling systems for isolated photovoltaic systems.

Lab SF integrates the laboratory network accredited by the Brazilian National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (Inmetro) comprised in the Brazilian Labeling Program.

The laboratory supports research and development projects of photovoltaic systems such as: tests for the evaluation of SIGFI20 and SIGFI30 systems to be used in isolated communities under the Light for All Program; tests for the assessment of efficient cooling systems for photovoltaic systems, in direct and alternate currents; tests for the assessment of the batteries used in SIGFIs of the Xapuri Community (Acre state); performance evaluation of the water pumps used in the photovoltaic systems of the National Programme for Energy Development of States and Cities (Prodeem) in the Northeast, among others.

The team of researchers working in the laboratory has vast experience in designing and implementing photovoltaic systems. Its main clients are: the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), Eletrobras companies and energy distribution utilities.
